Mary Robinson is an Irish lawyer, politician and human rights advocate. Born in 1944 in County Mayo, Ireland, she served as President of Ireland from 1990 to 1997, becoming the country’s first woman president.

After her presidency, Robinson served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 1997 to 2002. She has continued to work internationally on human rights, equality, climate justice and sustainable development.
