Mr. Volker Türk is the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights since October 2022. Mr. Türk has dedicated his career to advancing human rights, with a particular focus on refugees and stateless people.

Before becoming High Commissioner, he held several senior positions within the United Nations and UNHCR, including Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, where he played a key role in developing the Global Compact on Refugees.

Mr. Türk holds a doctorate in international law from the University of Vienna and has published extensively on refugee and human rights law.
