Guðrún Sif Friðriksdóttir

Marie Curie postdoctoral researcher at Nordic Africa Institution, Uppsala

Guðrún Sif Friðriksdóttir is a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala, Sweden. She will be located at Höfði Friðarsetur for 6 months in connection with her current research. Friðriksdottir PhD research explored the reintegration of ex-combatants in Burundi. Her current research looks at Burundi upper-middle class that fled violence in connection to the 2025 elections and how socio-economic status relates to people that experienced forced migration. Before Guðrún began her doctoral studies, she worked for UN Women in Liberia, South Sudan, and Laos, working specifically on projects related to women, peace and security, and violence against women.
