Lára has extensive experience in international relations and project management in humanitarian aid, advocacy and public health. With a focus on international project management, she has worked for Médecins Sans Frontières, United Nations and the Icelandic Foreign Service in among others Australia, Norway, Palestine, Nigeria, Afghanistan and South Sudan. Lára sits on the Médecins Sans Frontières Norway Board
She holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the University of Iceland and a Master of International Affairs from the Australian National University with emphasis on peace and conflict studies, partly taken in cooperation with PRIO, Norway. Additionally, she has IPMA project management certification and has participated in several humanitarian aid workshops and trainings such as Harvard Urban Humanitarian Emergencies Course.
