Greenland in the World: One Year On

Open seminar hosted by the Institute of International Affairs at the University of Iceland, Friday 17 January from 12:00 to 13:00 in Oddi 101 at the University of Iceland
About the Seminar

Last February, Greenland released its foreign, security and defence policy outlook document for the 2024-2033 period. In the intervening year, growing interest from the US, the EU and others has once again thrust Greenland into the international headlines. What do these developments mean for Greenland’s own stated policy? Can Greenland reconcile its own political priorities with the interests of powerful, external actors - and if so, how?

In this open seminar, Page Wilson, Associate Professor at the University of Iceland and Damien Degeorges, senior consulant and expert on EU-Greenland relationship, will analyse and discuss these questions, and others.

Dr Page Wilson is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Iceland

Dr Damien Degeorges is a Reykjavík-based senior consultant, expert on EU-Greenland relationship, and author of the PhD thesis in political science “The Role of Greenland in the Arctic”.

The seminar will take place in English and is open to all.
