Germany votes: Merkel’s Fourth Term?

A year ago, Chancellor Merkel’s refugee policy led to questions about her political future. But can her Social Democratic rival and former president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz prevent her from winning a fourth term? What are the biggest issues in the election campaign and will Germany with its increasing leadership role in the EU be able to hold the Union together in the coming years? Journalist Ali Aslan discusses the upcoming elections in Germany and answers questions from the audience.

Ali Aslan is born in Turkey and raised in Germany. He has worked as a journalist for leading television networks around the world. His work at CNN, ABC News and Channel News Aisa took him to Washington DC, New York, Istanbul, Barcelona and Berlin. Ali Aslan holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University´s School of International and Public Affairs, and a Master of Science in Journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
