Icelandic National Security in the Post IDF-Era

Varðberg (Association on Western Cooperation and International Affairs), NEXUS (Research Forum on Security and Defence) and the Institute of International Affairs at the University of Iceland invite you to a seminar at the National Museum of Iceland, 6 October from 14:00-17:00

Lilja Alfreðsdóttir, Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs, will deliver a keynote address.

Lecturers:

Robert Loftis, the Chief U.S. Negotiator during the 2005-2006 U.S. – Icelandic burden sharing negotiations.

Anna Jóhannsdóttir, Permanent Representative of Iceland to NATO.

Ojārs Ēriks Kalniņš, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Latvian Parliament.

Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir, Chairman of the Icelandic Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee.

The seminar is the first in a series of three. The second one will be on Rethinking National Security in the Nordic Countries and will take place on 27 October and the third one, on 17 November will be titled Rediscovering the Military Importance of Iceland and the North-Atlantic Area.
