Anna Jardfelt, Director of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, spoke in our Europe Dialogues, Friday February 3 at 12 pm in Lögberg room 101. Anna discussed the current challenges of the EU. Both when it comes to its role as a global actor- challenged by the economic crisis. But also the challenges of the ongoing internal power struggle inside the Union. What does this mean for smaller and medium sized countries? Will they be able to get their voices heard in the EU? And, even if they do, will the EU be the global player that the European Security Strategy describes? If not, are there any alternatives? Anna´s presentation was very well received.
