Towards an efficient EU membership – the case of Finland

The
Institute of International Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry for Foreign
Affairs will host a meeting with Eija-Leena Linkola, head of
National Twinning Coordination Team at the Finish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Wednesday 4
May, from 12-13 in room 101, Oddi. The meeting will take place in English.

Auðunn Atlason, Director of Communication and Public
Diplomacy, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, will moderate the meeting.

In her lecture Linkola will offer us a pragmatic approach to understand how the
states’ central administration structures, steering mechanisms, competences and
human resources were prepared to meet the challenges of EU membership. She will
also offer us a vision on the lessons learned during the process. Furthermore,
in light of this, and compared to the experience of many other Candidate
Countries, a short assessment will be made on what strong points and success
factors Iceland has in the accession process from an administrative point of
view.
