Realities and Perceptions – Challenges to Society and the Media and How They Can Be Overcome

International media are scrambling to explain the Arctic to their populations but in spite of their efforts, the knowledge and especially the understanding of the Arctic and its populations is often very far away from reality. At the same time, media in the Arctic seem to underestimate the influence countries and interests outside the Arctic will have within the region.
