A lecture on Finland’s journey to the European Union will be given by
Ambassador Antti Kuosmanen, Finland’s permanent representative to the
OECD and UNESCO, on Tuesday, 13th September, from 12:30 to 13:30
at the Nordic House.
The event is hosted by the Institute of International Affairs and Centre for Small State Studies at the University of Iceland, in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland and
the Nordic House in Reykjavik.
Antti Kuosmanen was member of the Finnish delegation to the EU accession negotiations in 1993-1994 and thereafter Deputy Director General of the EU Secretariat. Before returning to the Finnish Diplomatic Service, he served in the General Secretariat of the EU Council from 1996 to 2002. Currently he is Finland’s Permanent Representative to the OECD and UNESCO. In 2001 Antti Kuosmanen published the book „Finland’s journey to the European Union“, a comprehensive account of Finland’s negotiations on accession to the European Union.
