Monday August 23rd the Institute of International Affairs hosted an open lecture with Iver B. Neumann, the research director at the
Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and a professor at the University
of Oslo. Neumann completed his first doctorate in politics at Oxford University
while he completed his second doctorate in anthropology at the University of
Oslo last year. Neumann has written numerous articles and books and is
considered an expert in his field in Norway. His presentation dealt with the
status of European Affairs in Norway in general, and the question of why Norway
is not a part of the EU in particular. A lively debate followed the presentation, not surprisingly, since the turn out was excellent.
